We live in an advanced and highly technical world. Science permeates our lives and informs our actions. Everyday there are new discoveries and with the increase in scientific knowledge, there is an increased demand for educated workers. Excellence in science can open many doors, from aeronautics to zoology, from cancer research to maintaining a national park, or from nanotechnology to computer programming. A large number of jobs to-day require a background in science and engineering and with the growing concerns about finding jobs, it helps to have so many options available to you.
Science is exciting and rewarding because it teaches us about the world around us and to appreciate its complexities. The more we learn, through theory, hypothesis, experimentation and analysis, the more we want to learn.
The aim of our PLC courses is to inform, develop and interest students who are thinking about a career in Science and Engineering. The majority of our students are either (a) students who have completed their Leaving Certificate, but have insufficient points for a third level course or lack the relevant science subjects (b) mature students looking for a career change or (c) students who have started a third level course but find their Leaving Certificate has not prepared them for study at this level. The majority of students who graduate from our courses go on to successfully complete a third level degree.
