Junior Cycle Curriculum

Junior Cycle

St. Kevin’s College offers a varied and exciting curriculum at Junior Certificate. As well as offering the traditional academic subjects staff and students in St. Kevin’s have recognised the importance of more applied subjects.

St. Kevin’s is the last school in the Dublin 12 area offering a wide variety of practical subjects including Metalwork, Woodwork, Technical Graphics, Art and Home Economics. The Programme is delivered over three years. All students studying for the Junior Certificate are enrolled for the Junior Certificate Schools Programme. The Junior Certificate School Programme has been designed to ensure that young people can benefit from their time in school and enjoy an enriched educational experience. This programme offers the student, school and staff extra supports.

Some students find school more difficult than others; extra assistance is available for students with special needs. Currently, support from the D.E.S. falls under the guidelines for students who receive additional teaching support hours for designated learning needs. Applications for teaching support are applied for on an individual basis through the Special Educational Needs Organiser (SENO) assigned to the College by National Council for Special Education.

To assist students engage positively with the school an induction programme is run every year for new first year students. This provides the students with the opportunity to meet with their future classmates and gives them an opportunity to become familiar with the school itself before all of the students begin the academic year.
